Due to the great increase in
International traffic and the new airlines from the USA, another
major upgrade of the aerodrome was proposed in 1926 Work began
in 1927 and the new extended aerodrome, with it's new terminal
building and (4th) control tower began operation on the 28th
of January 1928. The new 'Control Tower' went through two
further upgrades and modifications before the airports closure
in 1959. |
